At 23 years old Scott has graduated from Western Michigan University with two majors in Finance and Management, and is now managing a portfolio for a private group of companies all while maintaining a bankroll and playing poker.
Scott started playing free rolls on Pacific Poker in order to build a bankroll. He parlayed his $5 winnings into 6 man SNG's. Starting with $2.50 buy-in games and eventually moving up to $100 games. Realizing he wanted to make money quicker he moved on to 6max cash games and eventually found himself playing at 3/6 NHLE. He soon branched out to 2/4 PLO and 10/20 Stud and Stud H/L.
When the UIGEA shut out U.S. customers from Pacific Poker and Scott was forced to withdrawal his entire bankroll.
Starting over on Poker Stars with only $150 owed to him by a friend, Scott played $0.25/$0.50 6max PLO cash games. Once Poker Stars added HU tables Scott almost exclusively played those and would game select as high as 2/4 and 3/6. However, with little action and a small pool of players Scott ultimately decided to focus on multi-tabling 6max PLO.
With the help of two plus two Scott would reply to every strategy thread he had an opinion on. He credits this to being one of the biggest factors in the way he developed his game. "I didn't care if I thought differently of everyone else in the thread, or even if I was wrong, I wanted to argue my points and learn from the discussion." He also now moderates the PLO forum on two plus two and enjoys helping other players develop their game as he once did only a few years ago. “I enjoy helping others out and trying to get them to see the game from a different point of view and in turn it actually helps me stay sharp and keeps me thinking about constantly tweaking my game and improving as well.”
Although Scott says he has a good work ethic and is very motivated outside of poker he admits that his biggest challenge is logging hands. "I try to improve every time I play and enjoy trying to find new ways to think about the game, I just can't force myself to grind out the 10 hour days like I use to." Says Scott. "I enjoyed poker more when it was new and fun, now that its become a way of income it completely changes everything and I’m thinking LeggoPoker will help me focus and stay interested in the game and community."
To this day, Scott has never deposited a single dollar into an online poker site and it’s something he is quite proud of. When Scott looks into his future he hopes that he will be working somewhere in the investment world and of course still have poker as a part of his life.
"I love the game and I think I'm a much brighter and better person for it." Coaching
