Maybe about 3-4 chess videos ago, curtains half-jokingly said that he should make some short stacking videos. This got me very excited. I messaged aejones and curtains, and basically got a response of "if there is enough demand for it, then we will make the videos." I'm not sure how they are trying to determine the demand for these videos, because I haven't seen either person ask the community. I'm probably not the best person to be doing this, but "Hey, leggo are you interested in short stacking videos." First let me list the reasons why I want to learn the art of short stacking.

1. I think it will help my tournament game
2. I'm a bumhunter (yes I said it). Often the fish will have 40bbs or less and I'd rather be playing with 40bbs (or however much the fish has), so that I can be risking less vs the solid regs.
3. It'll be nice to know how short stackers think, so if I'm playing deep (which I am 100% of the time currently) I can play profitably vs them.
4. IT IS COSTING ME MONEY THAT THERE AREN'T SHORT STAKING VIDEOS. Currently, on the site that I play on, A LOT of short tables (20bbs-50bbs) run....and I just fricking suck at them (yes, even with fish at the table...I just find myself getting it in wayyy too light)
5. This isn't really a reason...but YES guys I realize people don't like short stackers (I don't either), but it's a matter of money at this point. People don't like that everyone sits out when a fish is stacked, but that's just how it is (at all stakes).
6. I like to learn about poker!!! Yes, there is always more to learn with 100bbs, but rarely do I watch a video and I'm like "holyyyyy shit I just learned something awesome today!!!"...that is what I'll be saying if there were short stacking videos (because I don't know shittttt)...

I'm not saying that I don't want curtains to make chess videos anymore...obviously his chess videos are amazing. However, a series of 2-4 short stackers videos would be f-ing amazing. Soooo yeah, that's my ramble...

If anyone else shares my interest, please leave a comment and message aejones and curtains...(They want to see that people are interested...this is the only thing I could think of because nothing was getting done)...Even if you don't care, think about your good buddy jonstermonster and all the money he is losing because these videos aren't getting made...Thanks guys! ^_^

I find this video inspirational to playing Aplus poker 247. It's so easy to not have your mind fully in the game and to drift off, get cocky when up, essentially just not ALWAYS putting in high quality minutes. I think many of you will enjoy this short clip. I know I did.

so im playing 5/10 at commerce with a bunch of fish and maybe two regs (who i don't consider very good but thinking). i raise utg+1 to 35 with KsKh 1500 behind, fish to my left calls with 1100 behind, and 1 of the regs raises to 150 who has me covered and it folds back to me. i opt to flat 1. ive noticed live it's hard to get it in vs worse 2. i want the fish in the pot. 3. i normally play well post flop. flop comes asjh8h. i check. fish checks. and reg bets 305. it might be a fold here, but i think by calling i can get the best hand to potentially fold. the fish tanks and shows another player his hand and then folds. turn is Js. and it goes check check. in my mind the only very strong hand he can have here is AA. i think most boats and stuff will be betting the turn given how draw heavy the board is. i think a lot of 1 pair type hands will be afraid of getting check raised allin (this might be wrong, please let me know, i thought his range was rather weak when he checked turn). river is a 5s. i check and he bets 500. i only have 1165 behind. i opt to ship thinking that he'll fold ak aq all ace type hands that might have decided to 3bet preflop (like a8s a6s whatever). by only having 665 more it's risky because he might just call because the pot is so big, but i figured he was a thinking player and it seems very unlikely that I will be bluffing here. he tanks and calls with aqo.
i like preflop. flop is probably a fold? i personally like my ship on river. what do you guys think?

So, yeah, I'm going to be in vegas for three weeks starting this Friday. My goal is to play as much live as possible and hopefully make some money. My plan is to start at 2/5 and then proceed from there. In my experience the Venetian has some really good games, so my plan is to start there. Hopefully some interesting hands will come up that I'll be able to post and discuss.

I managed to get a 1bedroom for 320 a week through my parents timeshare lol. I'l be staying there with four people for the first week, so that should be definitely interesting. In my experience I'm only in the room to sleep, but either way it's going to be super tight. But yeah, it's going to be like 80 bucks a week if we split four ways so that's definitely a way to save a couple buyins of run bad by just staying in a cheaper place (if that makes sense). With so much money online and in question I definitely am going to try to be as nittay as possible with my money, or at least will try. This will include not playing in a wsop events, unless I get some staking from the people I'm going with. This will be hard to do because I know the people I'm going with are going to be playing in multiple events, but, yeah, I'm just going to have to be disciplined and not play in any. That's what I get for keeping too much of my roll online. *Shrug.

I've been really excited for a moment like this to really expose myself to live poker and play long hours a day for multiple days in a row. The people I'm going with are pretty intense so they will definitely motivate me to play my best and to play for long periods of time. Hopefully some interesting hands will come up that I can post. I'll try to post some updates whenever I can, or whenever something actually cool comes up.

Until then.

So I want to go to vegas for a little over a month. I want something relatively close to the strip because I plan on playing primarily live poker. I've tried looking up some places that offer extended stay but nothing really looks that appealing; they are either too far away, or don't have a gym (which I would like), or too expensive. What do you guys recommend? I realize that the closer I get to the strip inherently it will be more expensive. I guess I want something in the middle group. This is sort of a budget, actually trying to make money in vegas endeavor. I currently do not have a car so this is why distance is quite important because taxi fares everyday will surely add up. Any useful advice would be great, because I really want to try this thing (taking monies to vegas and trying to turn that monies into more monies). I just graduated college so this seems like an opportune time to "give it shot" since I'm not working, don't have a girlfriend, or any other obligations that would inhibit a month trip to vegas.

For the past month or some I have played 200nl at commerce casino, where blinds are 3/5. Yes, I know 40bbs, not the most ideal situation. I have, for the most part, just played nitty as fuck and have been profitable. Sure I'm "the guy who has only played AA and KK" blahblah blah guy, but I'm still making money.

I've tried playing 5/10 once, in which you can buy in for 500 to 1500. I bought in for 1500 and tried playing the same old nitty way, and it just wasn't the same...mainly because the players are actually somewhat competent and observant. I think that opening my range is in order and playing a much more aggressive game to disguise my range. I'm not sure how extreme I should take it, how much I should open my calling range, especially given most are 150bbs deep, whether I should be 3betting more (not just nutted hands...3betting tends to get a ton of credit live but peoples opening ranges are also a lot tighter live since limping isn't uncommon for most...and people dont really like to fold preflop especially deep so im guessing i wont have a ton of fold equity...but I think it is important to have a 3betting range that isn't nutted..etc..etc..) I hope I'm thinking about this correctly, but that's why I turn to you guys leggo, i need help!

Any advice/insight/ ANYTHING would be amazing. Thanks leggo!
