SCHMEFF!

the graph shows the hu-match vers him (which was played on 6 tables), i was also playing 3 tables of 6max on the side. I ran well, i played well, he played well, he didnt tilt (imagine that!).
Cudos to you, Schmeff! Wish i had won that kinda money vers a bumhunter or grimmer or not-nice guy (which is obv impossible due to their work-ethics and style of play).
Gonna continue to play him, continue blogging about it.
All the hands seem riddiculously standard to me right now (kinda funny, cause we were >250bb deep on multiple tables and both of us were 4betting >20%), i might make a vid about the match or something, or post some hands later when they fit the topic i wanna talk about.
Cheers and good luck to everybody, new vid coming out 2morrow, yo!

Been playing lots of deep tables at 1/2, and it so happened that i would end up playing schmeff heads up on a bunch of them (stubbornly starting a new one everytime i would get action, leaving me with about 8-12 tables, 4-6 of them heads up).
After my "shots" at 2/4, where i had played him heads up as well, i did have a strategy ready and tried to employ it.
As expected, big pots at deep tables tend to be cooler-type, or at least very standard, reason being that u dont wanna get in 250bb ultralight all the time.
For that reason i dont really wanna post many hands (I also wanna keep playing him, and not reveal too much right now about how i approach it).
Next series in the making, got a bunch of people playing different stakes to let me review their sessions with them, should be fun ("Effective Leak-Finding in 45 minutes").

Yoyo people.
Poker is fun.
Played some 2/4 for the first time in ages, thought a good way to take a shot is to start tables (and get action from Schmeff and BrandiCakes). Semester started again, and i will get some very good info on probability-theory this semester (i might make a series about Bayesian Probabilities), so i still dont have a lot of time to grind, as you will see in the graph and stats posted below.
I also started talking with some very very good players who make way more money than me, so maybe thats a reason why i jumped into the 2/4 games and will try to increase my hourly rate from now on.
Regarding Leggo, i am working on a series right now, gonna be some standard 6max-play, dual-commentary, just trying to solve some spots if we can and get a good gameplan going.
Regarding coaching, one student of mine managed to get from 50nl to 200nl within like 3 months or something sick, and the 2 students i coach right now are on their way up as well, one of them just catapulting his red line into the sky while still winning money (which is the important point of course), the other working like theres nothing else in life (also commenting on every single hand and video on leggo, guess who it is) and making huge progress. Working with guys like those 3 is why i got into poker initially, well done!
--- The above paragraph should not encourage anybody to ask me about coaching, as i wont take any students right now (and for the next 2 months or so) ---
I have been adding some random aggression to my game, which makes me play a lil fancy in spots, but might turn out very well overall and make me way tougher to play against. Zaza and I have been going into great detail regarding some game-theory spots (and will continue to do so), which should be very beneficial for both of us and the leggo-community.
I will leave you with a graph and some stats, farewell.

Yoyo people.
My deep-series is getting to an end, and i have been wondering why many of the videos havent been getting many comments.
Naturally, like a good politician, i was tempted to assume its the community's fault.
Unfortunately, this is entirely untrue (and therefore horribly wrong).
For this reason, i will cease forcing the topics of my videos on you, and have been thinking about involving somebody from the leggo-community into my next series.
IDEA1: simple, standard heads-up mentoring. This could be either creative (involving creative ways of getting action) or just about poker-theory, dynamics, some maths,....
IDEA2: 6max-deep mentoring. Same as heads-up, but 6max on deep tables (either ipoker or stars i think).
IDEA3: A couple of heads-up matches against leggo-members, show-casing strategies, leaks, dynamics and hopefully some good solid tilt.
Thats it from me, if you have any idea for a series at nl25-nl200 6max or heads-up, feel free to comment. If you have any other ideas or suggestions, feel free to comment or PM.
One more thing: In the 2nd part of the leakfinder, i ask people to send me hands, spots, ranges or general questions about deep play. If i get enough of those, i will involve them into the last video of the series. So if u got any, send'em over.
Cheers.
Simon
PS: Poker is going well.

ATTENTION: IF YOU GET OFFENDED BY FPS, DONT READ THIS BLOG!
Yoyo have been sick, have been lazy, no more university for now (holiday!), so i am gonna work on my poker-game. This means i am gonna grind, mass-table, figure out spots, play PLO, mix all kinds of tables, play regmatches, tilt and untilt, take notes, see where my leaks are.
I expect my graph to be pretty swingy (as it was the last couple of days), i expect myself to be pretty unhappy after some sessions.
As expected, I played 4 regmatches at 200nl, 2 of them i didnt like, 2 of them i liked, single hands tilted me like hell. It was hard for me to recover, i played huge sessions of PLO and 6max-nlh, i am focusing on my main reasons for tilt, and i am trying styles and lines that i havent been trying to much.
So far, with success.
I promised somebody to analyze a particular hand, so i am gonna do that:
Poker Stars, $0.50/$1 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players
LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter
MP: $288.60
CO: $256.20
Hero (BTN): $297.80
SB: $271.79
BB: $464.83
UTG: $155.69
Pre-Flop: T Q dealt to Hero (BTN)
UTG folds, MP folds, CO raises to $3.80, Hero calls $3.60, SB folds
This guy steals in the CO with a 31% range, lets assume for neatness sake its 30%. I could 3bet pre, but he was 4betting huge, so i didnt wanna do that, and everybody behind is deep with me, so they cant squeeze very light with hands that dominate me, so i opted to call and probably call a squeeze.
Flop: ($9.90) 2 8 7 (2 Players)
CO checks, Hero bets $4, CO raises to $13.84, Hero raises to $27, CO raises to $62.32, Hero calls $35.32
He cbets roughly 68%, lets assume its 65%, lets also assume he is tricky and checks some strong hands. He is gonna be checking a range equalling 10% of hands (i am gonna leave open which ones at this point, as its not that important for the way the hand played out).
Against certain player types i like to bet a very small size on this flop in position, planning on 3betting sometimes (i can do this with lots of different hands, ranging from any two overcards over 9T and 65 (which i have every combo of) to K8s,77,78,A3s,....).
When he check-raises, i follow up with my plan and 3bet to roughly twice what he made it (this would be inducing if i had the nuts, with my hand its obv a very cheap bluff).
Now IF he called, I would keep bluffing on certain turns like 9,J,6, following up on blankish rivers, i would also sometimes give up right away.
When he 4bets me, my plan changes:
Even if he was checking every single combo of 22,77,88,78, these hands would amount to a 2.6% range, totalling less than 20% of his checking range. Our stackdepth makes it impossible for him to play any overpair like this, and i doubt he would ever get into this spot with any kind of 7x,8x hand (he would proceed by either calling my small flopbet or only calling my raise with them).
So keeping in mind that i was making the small bet initially cause i thought he would bluffraise me a reasonable % of the time, i float his raise.
Turn: ($134.54) J (2 Players)
CO bets $70.72, Hero raises to $231.68 and is All-In
The turn might as well be any other card. When he bets 70$, the pot is at 210$ and he has 120$ left, so if i jam i risk 190$ to win 210$. While playing the hand i assumed he was playing 9T 0% of the time like this, lets assume now he does this with 9T occasionally.
Lets think about his bet/calling range:
9T(4),QJ(4),KJ(4),AJ(3),Qs9s(0.5),5s6s(0.5),JT(4), = 20 combos
22,77,88,78 = 11 combos (assuming he plays it like this half the time)
equals a 3.5% range = 35% of his checking range.
Against that range i have about 17.5% equity.
So whenever he folds i win 210$, when he calls i have 17.5% equity in a 555$ pot, which gives me a return of rougly -201$.
Therefore, my bluff has to work a little over 50% of the time, which is equal to:
He has to bluff with a 3.5% handrange.
This would be true if he was bluffing with every combo of KQo,K5s,63s,Q9o,A3o and some random Axo.
Looking at these calculations (this is the first time in ages i have done this), this play seems a little thin, but i strongly believe that he would cbet most of the hands i assigned to his bet/calling-range in this scenario, i also think there is a close to 0% chance he ever plays 9T or Jx like this (due to his timing on the turn).
The profitability would further go up if:
- He sometimes only calls my raise with 88,77,22,87
- He doesnt check 88,77,22,87 as often as i made him for this example
- His opening range includes more hands that totally whiff this board
- He sometimes plays hands like 33,44 this way
- His original intention was to check/call hands like AK,AQ, but he decided to turn them into bluffs
My play would be absolutely horrific if his valuerange is any wider than i expected.
Hm sick, lets do one more:
Poker Stars, $1/$2 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players
LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter
CO: $674.80
Hero (BTN): $217.60
SB: $1,352.73
BB: $505.40
UTG: $759.43
MP: $634.69
Pre-Flop: K A dealt to Hero (BTN)
UTG folds, MP raises to $7.40, CO folds, Hero raises to $18.40, SB folds, MP calls $11
So, this fellar was stealing 40% out of the CO, his overall 3bet-call-% was 64, which is gonna total a 25.6% handrange. He was 4betting about 8%, so lets take out AA,KK,AK,QQ, some JJ.
Flop: ($41.40) J 6 7 (2 Players)
MP checks, Hero bets $20.95, MP calls $20.95
Because his preflop-range is so wide, and because he wasnt check/raising many flops, i decided to cbet this board, to get him to fold random 22-55,KT,KQ,AQ type hands. He is gonna continue here with 89s,JTs,JQs,KJs,QQ,88,99,TT,66,77,76s, + some KQs,AQs,KTs,QTs,ATs.
I am gonna assume he sometimes raises the flop with QQ and 67s.
Turn: ($83.30) J (2 Players)
MP checks, Hero checks
River: ($83.30) A (2 Players)
MP checks, Hero bets $57, MP raises to $200
On the river, i was deciding wether to valuebet. He can certainly still have some AQ,ATs type hands in his range, he can also have 88,99,TT and some QQ. Now the question is simple:
What if he...

I have been playing poker for 3 years now.
After 8 months i decided i wanted to move to Berlin, see what happens, so i packed my girlfriend and did that.
Since then a lot has happened.
After a very tough time (NOT because of poker, but some private stuff) and a casualty along the way, I decided i might as well study maths like a normal guy (meaning that i would try to learn something), and that i might as well take poker seriously.
This was 8 months ago, right after a 15k bankroll went down the drain thanks to fulltilt.
So now i have built and rebuilt a bankroll from 1k to 15k within 13 months twice (while paying everything that needed to be paid), I have given away 25-40% of my winnings for several months, I am studying maths and making progress.
Thanks Leggo for the opportunity to make videos and get even deeper into the poker world.
Next Goals:
- Get rid of winning tilt
- Get Andrew to fly over here for 4 months and grind
- Get Zaza to move to Berlin
- Get videos to be as instructional as possible
This post is dedicated to my girlfriend, who just happens to be an inspiration whenever i need one.
Cheers.

Now, i have got 3 videos under my belt (4th to come very soon), and i have to say making a poker-video is a very interesting thing. If you have watched my 1st or 2nd video and compare it to the 3rd, youre probably gonna see the huge difference between them.
Now, how to proceed.
I have seen HH-reviews, i have seen people play and talk while they play, i have seen people play and talk afterwards.
I have seen Phil Galfonds face while waiting for sick hands he played during his career.
I have seen people talk about hands for a long time, i have seen people go over hands very quickly (usually using the word "standard" in the process).
Now in my understanding, a video should help people do something they couldnt do for themselves.
Often that probably means taking a lot of time talking about single spots and hands, trying to talk about ranges and fancy play vers solid play (also explaining what "solid" might mean in a certain spot).
At this point i have to say that i am a huge fan of the chess-videos of Greg Shahade, and i actually found something in there that can be applied to poker.
1) Puzzles
A Poker-Puzzle would be something like:
"Player A has strategy Z, what is my most effective counter-strategy.... Think about it.... I am gonna say it now....." - Solution.
2) Making people solve spots for themselves
Same as 1), but applied to some very specific spots.
I really think those two things are gonna increase the percentage of people investing more time into watching a video and probably gonna close the gap between coaching and watching a video (a tiny bit).
So, what does that actually mean?
It doesnt actually change the video too much. Its gonna mean a couple of pauses (each of them a couple of seconds long), its hopefully gonna get some feedback ( I actually did it already in the 4th vid (probably 3rd as well)) and it is a small change.
Talking about general video-making, i really think reviewing my play is a good balance between HH-review (boring) and live-sweat (superficial). It also creates some distance between hands played and analysis, which is always good.
Thoughts on coaching (probably) to come....
Cheers people.

Yoooooooooooooo.
People forgot to release my video (and i forgot to remind them), 2morrow is gonna be the day tho.
the 2nd one vers IFS is still a lil like the first one (me trying to be a producer), 3rd and 4th one are gonna be better (spewier and more entertaining cause by the 3rd video i will have found my video-style).
Games on stars are pretty crazy.
Played 5.7k hands, ran 1.3k below EV, mostly at 100nl and 50nl (both deeeeeeeeep).

Being a Spewtard is awesome if you dont care about money, experimenting with betsizes is even better. In case anybody wonders: I would play 200nl if people werent so nitty and short (one of the two usually), i actually do play 200nl heads up, but 100nl deep is just so awesome.
Cue for my next Series: Manipulating Ranges.
Probably Capping Ranges, although i dont really do that (but i could, if i wanted to).
Probably i am gonna compose my own intro (I am a composer, after all). Cheers people.

Yo, played another big session.
For a couple of reasons i was forced to think about +EV-plays vers standard-looking plays;
When you wanna convince people that youre a good player or when you wanna be "solid" or somebody has a percentage of your action, youre sometimes forced to think about how good a play looks rather than wether its the best play in that spot.
The following two hands happened in the said session, both were played on deep tables, i had a crazy image in both spots, and i had a sound reasoning behind my play both times.
The first hand i run a semicrazy bluff, the second hand i hercall down for a 720BB pot w/ Khigh.
Lets go into my reasoning:
I was startin a bunch of deep tables, and usually the guys who sit and play hu make some very basic mistakes regarding stackdepth. This dude was pretty likely 3betting too much and calling too loose oop, i cant fold Q8s deep ip ever in this spot. On the flop i can put huge pressure on his range and i have some equity, i would def play a straight and AJ like this (probably 4bet AJ sometimes pre). I think turn and river are reasonably close, in this spot i think vers a polarized cbetting-range i should give up, vers a depolarized range i dont mind my triple barrel.

2nd hand:
My opponent was 3betting 20% and apparently didnt really mind 3betting vers UTG and MP, I had 4bet him before (he folded). I thought in this spot his range is still superwide and very bluffheavy, he also can easily have a bunch of middling hands in there like QT,9T,JT,KT,...
I therefore 4bet for value (he is pretty likely to call ip but possibly still 5bet his strong hands cause he should be used to getting 4bet a lot, so his 5bet-range can be a lil lighter than usual and not AS polarized).
I cbet for value/protection/as a bluff (u never know..) and am pretty angry about stacksizes on the turn (I dont think i can cbet much smaller as i didnt wanna induce a raise).
When i check the turn i am not exactly planning on check/folding, cause what is he supposed to bet on this turn? Many people check back AQ and some AK here, he raises AJ and JJ on the flop a lot, so that leaves him with some AJ, some JJ, some AK and some A6.
He still has a bunch of draws tho, so i just check call down like a genius (If u stove it you should find that its a correct calldown if my assumptions are correct).

Hero showed K Q and WON $360.75 (+$179.45 NET)
I think both of these hands can be a tough sell if your audience doesnt trust your judgement, for what its worth i actually think my decision in the 2nd hand was much more +EV (and better informed) than the turn and riverbarrel in the first hand (although the play with the Q8 is good in theory, good for my range, puts a ton of pressure on him and it looks like i cant be bluffing by the river).
Anyway, cu at the tables (hopefully), cheers and good night.
